Question

Windows 11 Elements 10

I recently bought a new HP laptop with Windows 11.  I've downloaded Photoshop Elements 10.  After the computer restarts it is stuck on HP screen and gives Bios errors.  I wiped out all the apps and started over.  Downloaded again with the same problem.  I'm currently looking for answers.  At this point I'd have to wipe the pc clean again and go without Photoshop 10 on my new computer.  Any help is appreciated.

I still have my purchased CD for downloading and I use an adapter drive.  I've had to reset my pic back to factory twice after installing.  Now issues as long as the program is not on here.  I was even able to use the program while still installed.  But it recommends restarting the pc.  After I do so.... I cannot get past the black screen with the HP logo. When Holding down the power button to get some options, I get the error code: The CMOS checksum is invalid. CMOS reset (502).

I am assumming it was fine on my older pc with Windows 11 because it was already installed when I updated from Win 10.  I understand the program is old but it still works fine, I didnt want to purchase a new one. I use Lightroom more but it doesn't have all the same features.

The OP probably means an external DVD/CD drive.

I agree with everyone else that this shouldn't result in a bios error. How are you still downloading Photoshop Elements 10? That version is over 10 years old. The current 2024 version is version 22.

I agree with kglad, I have never heard of any program causing a bios error

Two ideas that MAY work to install and/or run old programs in Windows 10 or Windows 11
-RIGHT click the program icon or EXE and select a compatibility mode in the pop up option window
-and/or select Run as Administrator to assign FULL Windows permissions
    -also https://helpx.adobe.com/x-productkb/global/create-local-administrator-account-windows.html

NOTE I have 4 very old IGT Slot games that I installed on Win11 (32bit x86 mode)
I did not have to select a compatibility mode or run as Admin... Win11 just accepted them
So in my experience Microsoft has done a very good job with backwards compatibility

i don't see how any app would trigger a bios error.
