Question

Wiped computer, reinstalled same OS but I can no longer use my apps?

I had to wipe my computer and reinstall OS, and now I can no longer use the apps I used yesterday? The same OS as yesterday, but access has been revoked? Yes, my "older" OS is High Sierra, but everything was fine. I was using older versions of cc apps that were uploading my images to CC Cloud, and I could share them with my customers. This situation is very upsetting.

Adobe provides support and downloads for the current version and the immediately prior version of its Creative Cloud apps. If you wiped your computer, those executables have been deleted and you can't access them using Creative Cloud.

If these products were registered to your account, you should still be able to download them here:

https://helpx.adobe.com/download-install/kb/downloaded-older-app.html

If not, you can try the links here for the version you're looking for and follow directions exactly:

https://prodesigntools.com/tag/ddl

Note that it is no longer possible to download any Creative Suites program, nor is it possible to activate any Creative Suites program from CS1-4 as the activation servers are permanently offline.

ETA: Adobe OSs from Catalina onwards will never be able to run CS programs, as Apple removed support for all programs written for less than 64-bit OSes.

Thank you, I figured things out on the prodesign tools site. I understand the desire for companies not to have to support older computers, but High Sierra was released five years ago in 2017. I understand that Macs have undergone a significant shift in architecture but so have PC's through the years. Older versions of apps shouldn't be orphaned, you don't have to keep developing for that older os, but you should keep the versions in obvious circulation.

Most of the people here, including the Adobe Community Professionals, don't work for Adobe.

Please answer the following

  • Which applications have you installed on your MAC and what is the version of those applications?
  • Where did you install these applications from?
  • What do you mean by "can no longer use"? Does the application not launch, do they give an error?

The reason I ask this is because if you were able to install the applications fine on your "older" OS using genuine source then there is no reason that you are not able to use it even though Adobe does not support applications older than the latest two.

Hi there,

We understand your inconvenience, however, in order to use Creative Cloud, we recommend macOS Mojave (10.14)  or later.

Please find all the details here: https://helpx.adobe.com/creative-cloud/help/creative-cloud-desktop-app-system-requirements.html.

Thanks

Kanika

Adobe don't support any app versions that can run on High Sierra. I don't think any access has been revoked. What message do you get?
