Wish to use Debit VISA card from Mexico but can't

I am a new subscriber but have failed to get accepted on the page for purchasing Photoshop and Lightroom on a monthly basis. The message is one familiar to many about having to contact a local phone number, in my case in Mexico where I live but don't speak Spanish very well. When I spoke with the agent he said I had to send my debit card information in by email and something else that I could not understand.

After doing an online Chat with someone called Mohit, I was told that Adobe does not accept Debit cards, only Credit cards. But they have not updated their Payment Page? Nor the message provided about Error? 

So I want to know if it's really true that people cannot use their Debit Visa cards. 

Given the long list of pretty severe payment problems on credit cards that I have just read about, I am very unwilling to expose my finances to chaotic and plain wrong charges being made on it. I literally cannot afford ANY errors.

Strangely, my Debit card works just FINE with Google, Netflix, Smugmug and the New York Times - all of them American companies. I simply cannot believe that Adobe cannot process payments from Debit card accounts. I hope someone here knows why. Mohit from the Chat Service was an automaton and provided no explanation.
