Acrobat Crashes

I bought 9 licenses of Adobe Acrobat 2017. When I install it, the application will not launch. I have tried removing any trace of Acrobat Reader installations, using the Acrobat Cleaning Tool according to directions, I've tried cleaning up the registry, nothing seems to help. I install it, I launch it, it starts to launch, then crashes. The only PC it works on is one that is not up to date with Microsoft updates. Help, please. Windows 7 Pro.

Thanks for getting involved. My Adobe rep called and remedied the situation by giving me a method to bypass activation for these licenses. Thanks for your time.

Thanks for asking. We have over 100 PCs, but only 9 need Acrobat. Windows 7 Pro. Purchased 9 Acrobat 2017 Volume license. Have installed from a network share, and and also copied the files to the local PC and installed from there. Neither method worked. No logs or error messages, the product starts to launch, then crashes. Like I stated in the OP.

  • So you've manually copied the installer to a physical machine and installed from there? It installs but crashes on launch?
  • What track and what lic type (serial or named user)?

btw, if you need help finding logs, see this:

So, for whatever reason, Acrobat will not launch. Adobe rep tells me it must be because we have them blocked. We don't, they're whitelisted. In fact, taking a PC off the network and using an aircard to access the internet, with no firewall whatsoever, gives the same result. We don't implement Windows Defender, so that is not the issue. We paid a lot of money for software we can't use. I see in this forum and in other searches that others also have this issue. Not happy.

Do you have other details which might enable troubleshooting?

  • How many machines in the org?
  • What OS?
  • What product and product version?
  • How was it deployed?
  • What licensing type?
  • Any logs or error messages?
