Hi,

I've got a user with a license for the above product but when she tries to edit a PDF it won't let her save. It also says it is password protected when it isn't.

Any ideas?

TIA

Hi @alison_3702,

Thank you for reaching out.

Based on your query, it appears that a user in your organization is experiencing an issue where they are unable to save edits to a PDF in Acrobat DC Standard, and the software incorrectly indicates that the file is password protected.

Here are some troubleshooting steps to help resolve the issue:

  • Check File Permissions – If the file is stored on a network drive, shared location, or cloud service, ensure the user has full read/write permissions.

  • Confirm License Activation – Verify that the user is signed into Acrobat DC Standard with their licensed Adobe ID. Ensure they are using the correct profile by signing out of Acrobat and signing back in, selecting the appropriate school or business account when prompted.

  • Check PDF Security Settings – Even if the user believes the file is not password-protected, it may have editing restrictions.

    • Open the PDF in Acrobat.
    • Navigate to Menu > Document Properties > Security.
    • Review the "Document Restrictions Summary" to confirm that editing is allowed.
  • Save as a New File – Try saving the PDF under a different name or location using the "Save As" option to avoid potential file corruption issues.

  • Run Repair Installation – In Acrobat, navigate to Help > Repair Installation to resolve any software-related issues.

For additional details, you may find the following resources helpful:
Adobe Acrobat – Why Won’t My PDF Save?
Adobe Acrobat – Unable to Edit PDF

Hope this helps. Let me know if you need further assistance.
