Cannot have Captivate 12 and photoshop open at the same time

I couldn't seem to find a post on this subject anywhere so I thought I would ask: I have one adobe profile that has captivate 12 attached to it, and another profile that has adobe creative cloud attached to it. When I'm signed into one, I can't open the apps from the other profile... I get a pop up saying I need to start a free trial. It won't let me sign into the apps separately with different profiles.

Has anyone else had this issue? Is there no way of merging the profiles?

The company I work for has given us all adobe creative cloud access, but we only have 2 captivate licenses. So I'm not sure how merging the accounts may work if that is even an option.

Hi @Stefanie28429464r7gr,

Thanks for reaching out. As checked, you have an active individual Captivate license and a Teams license associated with the Adobe ID you used to post this query. You can access the Captivate license by selecting the Personal option in the profile chooser, and the Teams license by choosing your Work or School account. The trial prompt appears when you try to access Photoshop while signed in with the Personal profile.

Adobe apps allow only one active account/profile per device session. Signing in through the Creative Cloud Desktop app licenses all installed apps to that single account until you sign out and switch profiles. Switching between Personal and Business profiles requires signing out and back in, then selecting the desired profile in the profile chooser. Simultaneous use of two profiles on the same device is not supported. You can check this doc for more info regarding profiles: https://adobe.ly/41PjFbI

As workarounds, you can:

  • Use different sign-ins on separate devices or virtual desktops—for example, Captivate on one machine and Photoshop/Creative Cloud on another.

  • Ask your admin/IT team to purchase a Captivate license under the Teams contract. Once that is assigned to you, you can cancel your individual Captivate license.

Hope this helps. Let us know if you need further assistance.
