Question

Cannot update admin install with 8.2.2 patch

I have created an admin installer with update 8.2.1 and now trying to patch with 8.2.2.

I am getting the following error:

I am fairly new to this process, but had no problem patching to 8.2.1, but 8.2.2 is giving me a problem.

I have also tried patching a machine that was running 8.2.1 with the latest 8.2.2 msp file and I get the same error. Can I not upgrade machines this way?

Any suggestions would be much appreciated.

Thanks

Patching of AIP is failing in your case because you are not following the correct process.

8.2.1 was a security patch and 8.2.2 was a quarterly patch.

When patching AIP you can not apply Quarterly patch over a Security patch. (But reverse is possible i.e. Security patch can be applied over Quarterly)

Do these steps-

1. Discard your 8.2.1 AIP

2. Create a new 8.2 AIP

3. Patch the 8.2 AIP with 8.2.2 patch

I'm having the same problem as well. We have an administrative install point for Acrobat 8.2.1 already in place. I've been patching it since 8.1.0 and redeploying through GPO and it's worked fine until now. I can apply the 8.2.2 patch to 8.2.1. I get the same error as the original poster.

As a test, I also can't install the patch directly onto a machine with 8.2.1 installed. However, if I run the update from inside that installation of Acrobat it will detect and install 8.2.2.

I've re-downloaded the patch multiple times to no avail. Any solutions?

I was hoping someone could answer this. I am having the same problem.  I couldn't

update my admin install either, so I ended up recreating it and leaving the 8.2.1 update out.

That worked and I have an 8.2.2 admin install, but it won't reinstall on workstations with 8.2.1.

Anyone have any ideas?

TIA
