    Hi @daring_Serenity1844,

Thanks for trying that and letting us know. Yes, please go ahead and quit the Creative Cloud desktop app completely and open it again before the next attempt. On Windows, click the menu icon in the app, choose File, then Quit Creative Cloud. After it’s closed, reopen the app, confirm the Install location still shows C:\Adobe under Preferences > Apps, and try installing After Effects once more.

If you still get error 176 after that, could you share a screenshot of the Apps section in Preferences (showing the install location) along with the error window? That will help us see exactly what the app is picking up on your end.

    Thanks,
    ^AV

    Hi @daring_Serenity1844,

Thank you for reaching out, and we’re really sorry about the trouble with installing After Effects. Since Photoshop and Animate went onto your external drive without any problem, we can see why this error is confusing.

Error 176 comes up when the install location is a network drive, which isn’t supported, so the fix is to point Creative Cloud to a local drive or partition. Could you set the location again from the desktop app and retry:

    1. Open the Creative Cloud desktop app, click the Account icon at the top right and choose Preferences.

    2. Select Apps in the left panel.

    3. Next to Install location, click the Default location icon and pick a folder on a local drive.

    4. Click Done, then try installing After Effects again.

The same steps are also here if you’d like to follow along: https://helpx.adobe.com/download-install/apps/troubleshoot/error-codes-150-199/error176.html

If you still get the same error, please let us know the exact install path showing in Preferences and we’ll take it from there.

    Thanks,
    ^AV
