Create package without automatic activation VIP site license

We are migrating to VIP from EEA site license next year. The new licensing type allows for deployment to student or teacher-owned devices.  For liability, student information security, and network security reasons, we are trying to create a process for allowing licenses on these student or teacher-owned devices. 

Is there a way to create a package without automatic activation enabled?  Perhaps where the user may install for example, the CC Desktop app, and install a trial of Photoshop?  Then we simply send them a CCP - created license file, which they use to convert their trial, named license to a device license from the school's inventory?  If we did send the end-user a school-inventory license file, can that license file be used again? (could the student pirate the license file to a friend's computer)

The goal is to allow the end-user to own the process for downloading/accepting liability for installing on their machine.  On the school's side, we would not want to work directly on a non-district-owned machine, nor connect a non-district-owned machine directly (wired) to our network.

Hi,

Yes, you can do what you describe here.

If the user has installed any of the applications as trials, they can then run the license file to apply the device license.

The main thing to beware in this scenario is that if the user signs in to the software with an Adobe ID with any kind of entitlement after adding the license, it will overwrite the device license. Where an admin is rolling out a package we normally recommend not to include the Desktop App for this reason. In this scenario you have no control over whether the user has this.

As for whether the license could be 'pirated' - to avoid this you would have to assign just one license per licensing file from your pool. See Create packages with Adobe Creative Cloud for education device licenses If you have a large number of students this may be impractical.

Thank you for the reply. This is all great news to read. As I am in the planning phase (we won't purchase until our EEA is up this Summer), I would ask a couple follow up questions:

1. In the case of an end user having access to the Creative Cloud Desktop app and potentially defaulting back to trial, could we instruct them to use the Creative Cloud Desktop Uninstaller:  Uninstall the Adobe Creative Cloud desktop application to remove the desktop app after serialization to avoid accidentally authenticating?

2.  I have not ever seen a deployment pool option on our EEA/LWS-based CCP system.  If we were to purchase a VIP volume device license, would we be able to assign one license/BYOD student?  The deployment pool and assigning of licenses has never been a part of our situation.

1. Yes they could use that link to uninstall the desktop app (will require admin rights ). You would still need to re-apply the license.

2. You should be able to do that, but this would increase the work for the system admin.
