Question

creative cloud 2014 customising shortcuts

Hi having fun with the creative cloud packager and I now have lovely working silent install and uninstall.

Next up is trying to make the shortcuts appear in a tidy folder.

Is there an easy way to set this for the package created by cloud packager or do I have to modify their locations post install with a script.

I looked at the main start msi but couldn't see anything in there to govern where the shortcuts were placed on the start menu.

I assume it's chain loading a bunch of other installers which contain the shortcut adverts.

Any advise appreciated.

We ended up doing this using a script or directly in SCCM. Our Client Management team took care of it and I wasn't involved directly in the process, so can't give you any additional details.

Seemed to be the easiest way to do it.

Hi thanks for the comment prodic.

Yeah that looks like the only way I can see.

I'm using a few powershell commands in a PSAppDeploymentToolkit wrapper script to do the post install processing to move the shortcuts around.

It's a shame as I know Adobe have offered this shortcut editing ability in the past with the Arcobat customiser tool.  It would be great to have it in cloud packager too.  There are just so many shortcuts created that is all ends up very messy on the start menu if we don't tidy it up a bit.

Here's hoping it makes it to a future feature of the Enterprise packaging tools.  Us part time packagers just want an easy life ; )

Agreed that the packager could do with some slight improvement. Those improvements depend on who you are and what you do. To us a shortcut editor ability is a very minor thing. :-)
