Creative Cloud Citrix Deployment
I am looking for any advice, opinions or feedback on improving my user experience for my organizations Creative Cloud application deployment.
We have roughly 50 user's with individual Creative Cloud licenses. We have a Citrix XenApp deployment. Version '2203 lstr cu3'. We have our main 'Gold Image' for standard applications but we have our Adobe applications such as Acrobat, Creative Cloud and graphic programs like Photoshop, Premier Pro and Illustrator on separate 'Silo' servers due to the resource intensive nature of these applications which could not run simultaneously with other applications on the 'Gold Image'. When a user opens one of the Adobe applications, they are on a separate server from their normal Citrix server. So they would have two connections to two separate Citrix servers.
Our Adobe application 'Silo' is running on Windows Server 2019, 64 bit. Our Creative Cloud application has not been updated since 2021. From our testing it appears as though due to the OS not being Windows 10 we cannot update CC past its current version. Our current version is 5.5.0.617.
We have user's regularly losing access to custom fonts and the applications constantly crash when accessing via Citrix. I have installed these fonts directly onto the Silo image but the user's are still not seeing these fonts all the time when accessing their files. Our user's have started circumventing our hardware and IT policies in order to install these applications on their personal computers to be used 'off-network' in order to be able to adequately perform their job duties. They are using whatever workaround they can in order to avoid interacting with Citrix.
We are potentially moving towards a VDI solution in the future, but in my opinion these applications are meant to be ran on local hardware. A Windows 10 VDI would absolutely improve current user experience, but the bar is so low for performance that anything at this point would be an imprvement.
I am looking for any insight into how to better support our user's for these applications. We have exhausted the options we can come up with for improving the user experience and outside of getting a better deployment situation I don't know what else we can do.
