Creative Cloud Dreamweaver CC6 64-bit exit code 1603

Received a Creative Cloud package for Dreamweaver CC6 64-bit from another department. I am trying to deploy their package by SCCM to a clean build 64-bit Windows 7 Professional virtual machine (VMware Workstation 12 Pro) with 4 GB memory, 19.5 GB free disk space. Unattended install is failing with exit code 1603. Here's the install command:


msiexec.exe /I "Creative Cloud Dreamweaver CC6 64-Bit.msi" /LV* "C:\Logs\DreamweaverCC2014_15.1.0_Install.log" /Quiet ALLUSERS=2 IGNOREAAM=1 REBOOT=ReallySuppress


Found that IGNOREAAM public property, which had no effect, in Adobe's "Troubleshooting and Support" article, relevant section excerpted here:

Error 1603 and installation or upgrade failures

1603 is an MSI error code that can be thrown as the result of a file conflict or permissions issue. This error also may appear if a previous uninstall was incomplete. If you see this error, try:

    • The suggestions on the Microsoft support site.
    • Using IGNOREAAM=1 in a command line installation.
    • Using the Cleaner tool to completely remove Acrobat, and then reinstall.

Hello Sheena. I took a look at article KB408716:

Solution 1a. Disable startup items and non-Microsoft services.

It's an unattended SCCM deployment that is failing; no one is logged on. The only non-Microsoft services running on this clean build virtual machine are related to VMware Workstation: VMware Alias Manager and Ticket Service (VGAuthService), VMware Tools (VMTools) and VMware Physical Disk Helper Service (VMware Physical Disk Helper Service).

Solution 1b. Fix permissions on the Windows Color Profiles folder

Current owner of folder C:\Windows\System32\spool\color is TrustedInstaller; this account enjoys every privilege available. Again, we're discussing a clean build virtual machine that should be highly typical of the 90,000 computers managed by SCCM.

Solution 2. Remove Google Desktop.

No Google product is present on this clean build virtual machine. Also, Google Desktop does not exist in our SCCM library.

Solution 3. Install the Adobe product into a single-byte folder

We're using very standard folder names.

Solution 4: Clear contents of user and system temp folders

C:\Users\Administrator\AppData\Local\Temp; 16 files, 6 folders occupying 662 KB. Now 0 files, 0 folders occupying 0 KB.

C:\Users\Default\AppData\Local\Temp; 1 file, 0 folders occupying 0 KB. Now 0 files, 0 folders occupying 0 KB.

C:\Users\mdnadzj\AppData\Local\Temp; 14 files, 5 folders occupying 13.3 MB. Now 1 file, 0 folders occupying 0 KB.

C:\Windows\Temp; 97 files, 6 folders occupying 56.5 MB. Now 2 files, 1 folder occupying 46.5 KB.

No effect as Windows Installer returned the same error pointing to custom action CADeploy.

Solution 5: Verify that the Windows Installer Service is started

Verified.

Solution 6: Reregister the Windows Installer service

Not necessary; same virtual machine is able to receive various deployments through SCCM.

Solution 7: Install to a folder that is not encrypted

The install folder is not encrypted.

Solution 8: Run the Adobe Cleaner Tool

No Adobe product is present on this clean build virtual machine.

Solution 9: Use the Adobe Support Advisor tool and contact Adobe Technical Support

Clicking the Use the Adobe Support Advisor link results in a 404:
