CS4 Extended serial number [university volume license] no longer works

i had the program on a computer that died and now need it on a newer computer, but the serial number does not work as it did before. i got the program while working at a university with a bulk license, and was told it would always work. since the program is no longer supported, i was told i could get some help here, but it seems i need a new serial number or to find one embedded in the software. right now i have re-installed the program, but on a trial basis that will rum out in 30 days. any help appreciated.
