Customization Wizard crash

Hi,

I am trying to install Acrobat Pro 9 on Vista SP2 computers. I am using Adobe Customization Wizard to personalize the installation.

I need to customized the Adobe PDF printer settings; the Truetype font settings must be set to "Download as softfont" by default.

I found that the following registry key was modified when the printer setting was changed:

HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Print\Printers\Adobe PDF    Default DevMode

I decided to add this key in the registry section of the Adobe Customization Wizard, everything seems to be fine until I click on the Summary tab which crash the customizatiuon wizard each time.

This crash occurs on different computers/systems.

Any help why this crash or any suggestions how can I modify this printer settings ?

At least for Reader 10.x, this key already exists. If you load the MSI and drill down to that ke and it exists, then you don't need to drag it to the destination computer because the installer is already configured the way you want it.

Did I not understand?

I think you didn't understand

I try to change the "download as softfont" preferences of the "Adobe PDF" virtual printer used to create pdf from any application that can print.

This printer is not present with the reader version of Acrobat (only with the non-free version of Acrobat).

If the key already exist it won't help much more as you can't modify a REG_BINARY key in the wizard, at least in the Version 9, I'll try the X version next week and let you know.

By the way, for the moment I installed a .reg file to modify this key at the end of my installation script in order to configure the printer correctly, the only thing is that the preference is not changed until the next reboot.

Sorry for the late response,

I started again with a fresh install of Windows Vista and again the same problem appears.

So to resume:

Open a new package

Go to the registry menu.

Add manually (with several right clicks New-> key) the following tree:

HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Print\Printers\Adobe PDF

Drag the "Default DevMode" binary value (REG_BINARY) from my computer into the "Adobe PDF" key of the destination computer.

Save the project

Click on the Summary button crashed the wizard

In my opinion it is the REG_BINARY string length that cause the problem, I try with other long binary value from other key and it always give the same result -> Wizard crash. I also try with small binary value and these don't gives the problem (for example the "HKCU\Control Panel\Appearance\SchemeLangID" has a small value 09 04 and doesn't give the wizard crash).

Other thing with the binary value is that you can only create empty one, they cannot be modified, so you are obliged to install acrobat pro in order to be able to drag them from my computer to destination computer registry.

I will try with acrobat X and the related wizard next week.
