Email from my "Account Manager" about consolidating licenses

I have had an Adobe account for years with about 75 users.  I have never had an Account Manager as far as I know.  Today I received an email with a subject of "Immediate Attention Requested | Individual Accounts"

This is the body of the message -

"As your Account Manager at Adobe, I wanted to bring to your attention to flagged multiple sign-ups under your domain that urgently need to be consolidated under your admin control.

This misalignment can lead to security risks, compliance issues, and operational inefficiencies.

By consolidating these licenses into your team account, you’ll benefit from:

✔ Full ownership and control over Adobe licenses
✔ Simplified billing and compliance management
✔ Enhanced security and seamless collaboration
✔ Smooth transition with zero downtime
✔ Prorated refunds for cancelled individual licenses

Shall we proceed with the consolidation? Should I send you the approval link?"

Is this real or a scam?  I have no idea what "mulitple sign-ups" means.  Has anyone else seen this?

Thanks

Welcome to the Adobe Enterprise and Teams Community.

Are you receiving emails from Adobe account managers about consolidating your individual or personal Creative Cloud licenses into a single business or team account managed through the Adobe Admin Console?

You and your team members may receive such emails in the following situations:

  • All users are using email addresses with the same business domain.
  • The credit card used for payment of individual subscriptions is the same.
  • Your organization already has an active Teams contract, but several users still have individual subscriptions linked to the same business email domain or payment method, and they have not yet been added to the team contract.

Benefits of upgrading to Creative Cloud for Teams:

Consolidating individual plans into a Creative Cloud for Teams plan offers several exclusive advantages designed for organizations and collaborative environments:

  • Centralized license management through the Adobe Admin Console
  • Shared pooled storage for easy collaboration and secure asset retention
  • 1:1 Expert Sessions and advanced technical support
  • Creative Cloud Libraries to maintain brand consistency and streamline teamwork
  • Access to Adobe Fonts, Adobe Stock templates, Adobe Color, and Behance for inspiration and creative assets
  • 180-day file history for cloud documents and Creative Cloud files to restore earlier versions when needed
  • Ability to reassign licenses to new users if someone leaves the organization
  • Prorated refunds for cancelled individual licenses

Managing your existing plans and assets

When you upgrade from an individual plan to a Teams plan (or Creative Cloud for Teams), you’ll be asked to make the following choices:

  • Decide whether to cancel or keep your existing individual plan.
  • Choose to migrate your assets to team storage or retain them in your personal storage.

If you cancel your individual plan, you’ll receive a refund within 3–5 business days. All content from your personal storage will automatically transfer to your team storage, making collaboration easier and ensuring no data is lost.

About Adobe’s domain matching service: If your organization already has a Teams contract but multiple users are still on individual subscriptions using the same email domain or payment method, you may receive matching requests through Adobe’s domain matching service in the Admin Console.

  • Team requests: When users with matching domains or payment methods, who have an individual subscription or trial, request to join your team.
  • Team recommendations: When Adobe identifies users with matching accounts and recommends adding them to your team.

This feature is available for Teams contracts purchased directly from Adobe.

To manage these requests:

  • Sign in to the Adobe Admin Console.
  • On the Overview page, you’ll see notifications for any pending requests or recommendations.
  • Review and approve the user, assign an existing product, or purchase an additional license if needed.
  • You can also choose to delete a request if it’s not relevant.

For more information, visit: https://helpx.adobe.com/enterprise/using/domain-matching.html

For end users with individual licenses

Once the upgrade is complete and you cancel your individual plan, you’ll receive a refund for the unused duration within 3–5 days.

We’ve now received two emails a couple months apart with the same exact text, claiming we had trial licenses that were going to be billed separately. The person we emailed seemed to have access to our account information, including legitimate email addresses of licenses in our organization. We thought we had this cleared up in Jan/Feb. They had email addresses of people in our organization that DO NOT HAVE AN ADOBE ACCOUNT, as well as another email address that is not even our domain name, but is similar. It’s almost as if this person is scraping our website for emails that don’t have associated Adobe accounts, then claiming there is a trial under that account, and sounding super official about it. If this is OFFICIAL Adobe contact, this is incredibly shady way to do business.

 The following is the exact text of the email;

“Hi Admin,

We appreciate your continued business with Adobe.

While you already have an active Adobe Teams Account, there are a few Individual and active trial licenses under Contract ID (***) that are not linked to your business account, named (***), resulting in separate billing.

Please confirm if you’re aware of these scattered licenses. I recommend consolidating them into your Team Account for centralized management, cost control, and compliance.

Note: This migration is seamless—No impact on user credentials or data.

Kindly confirm your approval so we can proceed to close the case.”

The person sending the email is named Nisha Gupta.

When i call the phone number, it just asks to leave a message.

If this is legit, I’m extremely concerned with Adobe’s practices in “sales”. @Anshul_Nautiyal seems knowledgeable about this. Would appreciate a response. You can contact me @Email Address

Hi @i_am_brucelee

Thanks for reaching out and for sharing these details here.

Please note that the person you mentioned is a legitimate Adobe representative, and the email you received is part of our Individual to Teams outreach process. This type of communication is typically sent when an organization already has an active Teams contract, but there are individual subscriptions or active trials associated with email addresses from the same organization that are not yet linked to the Teams account. In such cases, Adobe representatives may reach out to inform customers and recommend consolidating those subscriptions under the Teams contract for centralized management and billing.

I would recommend replying to the same email you received and requesting a callback if you have any concerns or questions. Thank you also for letting us know that when you called the number it asked you to leave a message.

Additionally, I will reach out to your Adobe account manager and request that they contact you directly to address your concerns.

Thanks again for bringing this to our attention. Please let us know if you need any further assistance.

Regards,
^AN

This is the second time in as many months that they have reached out for this. We told that person the first time that 3 of the 4 emails they asked about absolutely DO NOT have ‘active trials’ or ‘individual subscriptions’. In fact, as previously stated, one of the four WASN’T EVEN OUR DOMAIN, and another of those 4 doesn’t even work here anymore and their email address has been shut down.
I feel like this kind of ‘fishing’ for accounts is skeevy behavior and is not appreciated. I will contact Nisha Gupta and make it clear we don’t need consolidation of accounts we don’t even have.

I just got the same thing today. We've had a work account for a long time and never heard of an account manager. It said there was an email on the account called indiaaccount@skill.tech which seemed very intentionally named. I think it's a scam personally but I hope we get some feedback on this.

I am in a similar situation and people in our organization are receiving many emails about this very same thing.

The sender of the emails comes off very aggressive.  Their behavior matches many typical scam patterns.

Has anyone heard from a leigitmate source at adobe regarding this?
