Exporting forms from InDesign. Please help to resolve issues. Stroke line on random sides not affected by the border and colours menu. Also Tab order confused. Please advise. Thanks

I have created some forms InDesign and have saved as an interactive PDF. When I open in Acrobat the text entry fields have a line on the outside. This line occurs sometimes top, sometimes side, sometimes on one or more than one side. What is the cause of this? Also how do I order the fields (for tabbing etc.) using InDesign in a way that Acrobat understands and will carry through?

Thanks, when I built a sample form using InDesign CC 2015 and viewing in Acrobat DC Pro I could not replicate the problem.

Would it be possible to share your form or something that demonstrates the problem?

Hi. Thanks for your help.

I booked a help session with Adobe and have now got a better understanding of the problem.

The issue appears to be the way the recipients machine interprets the document.

When view using Acrobat reader on an iPad (which is what I will be using) it looks OK.

With regards to form fields styling in Acrobat, I can only really influence the design once the user clicks to enter data.

Some other styling (fields colour etc) is done on the users machine under edit > preferences > forms

Thanks for responding. Yes, I get the same problem. See attachment. I can switch outline off but most of these fields will be required fields so the red line shows in the same random way.

Tab order can be set in InDesign via Object>Interactive>Set Tab Order.

Regarding how this is displaying in Acrobat, this is a display issue usually seen in older Acrobat/Reader versions. Do you see the same thing when you zoom in? What version of Acrobat are you viewing the form in?
