Get a "Build encountered unrecoverable error" when attempting to update an existing package.

Build Log shows the packager is looking for a file that was never created when originally creating the package.

Build Log:

I need to update my existing package as creating a new one does not remove the existing installation or save user preferences.

I think this might depend on how update is defined.

If you are installing a new version of an application - e.g. Photoshop CC 2015  and you already have Photoshop CC 2014 installed then the behaviour is the same when deploying. It is a complete new binary and will not 'update' the old one.

We also however, have updates which contain bug fixes and security updates. These simply update the application in the usual way.]

Regarding importing prefs, this article might help.

So running a package containing Photoshop 2015 on a computer with Photoshop 2014 will not upgrade the existing installation regardless if its a new or updated package?

No, it will install a new application.

It might be worth deleting cached installers.

You can do this from the Preferences menu in CCP.

Or you may want to try going to the cache folder location and manually deleting the Media Encoder folder in case of corruption.

Thanks for the response.

Unfortunately this didn't work. I have also tried updating the package from another PC.

Adobe Live Chat Support's only suggestion was "Create a new package instead". I really don't want to have to do that each time we push updates as I will need to remove the old applications manually and the user preferences will be lost. My understanding is that updating an existing package upgrades the existing applications instead of installing new ones.
