Question

How can I get Creative Cloud app to open? (School subscription)

My Creative Cloud app just stays in the loading screen. This is following notifications about a disc error in Photoshop that didn’t allow me to save any new files and InDesign telling me I needed to delete and reinstall the app (hence why Creative Cloud not opening extra frustrating). Anyone know what’s wrong and how to fix this?

reset the cc app: To reset the Creative Cloud desktop app, make sure it's in the foreground, then press: Win: Ctrl + Alt + R Mac: Cmd + Opt + R

This doesn’t have any effect -- any idea what that might mean?

    Hi @jackson_2072 ,

Thanks for confirming those details, and for trying the reset. Since it didn't help and Creative Cloud has worked before on your Mac, the Photoshop message is the useful clue here.

That "disc error" that stopped you saving is almost always a "scratch disk full" condition, which happens when your Mac's startup drive is low on free space. When the drive gets that full, it can also stop the Creative Cloud app from finishing its load, since it needs room to write its own files. So freeing up space is the most likely fix.

    Try this in order:

First, check your storage (Apple menu > System Settings > General > Storage) and clear files until you have a comfortable margin free (Adobe recommends at least 50 GB), then empty the Trash to actually reclaim the space: https://adobe.ly/4hhGlKo

Then fully quit Creative Cloud (Creative Cloud > Quit Creative Cloud) and reopen it. With room on the drive, it has a much better chance of loading cleanly.

If it still won't open after that, the issue is beyond storage. Since your apps come through your school, your school's IT team manages the installs on that Mac and can repair or reinstall Creative Cloud for you, which is worth flagging to them given InDesign already prompted a reinstall.

Please give the cleanup a try and let us know how it goes, we're happy to help further.

    Thanks,
    ^AV

What type of computer are you using and what's your operating system version? Have you ever been able to use Creative Cloud successfully before?

I am on a MacOS Sonoma 14, and I’ve been able to use CC several times before this
