I think I should have purchased Photoshop and Acrobat Pro

I receive images of photo IDs as a PDF attachement. But usually the image is to dark when I try to print it. I thought Adobe Acrobat had a "lighten" feature, but it does not. Should I have purhase Photoshop Element?
