InDesign freezes on startup after update "New storage functions of the Admin Console"
Problem description short version:
After the Adobe Update of the storage functions of the Admin Console, the error message "Error during file synchronization" appears in the Creativ Cloud desktop app.
Some programs (in my case InDesign and Dimension) freeze when starting and can only be closed (under Windows) via the task manager.
Problem:
Abobe announced by email with the subject
"Reminder: New Admin Console Storage Features Coming Soon"
this: "[...] so we wanted to remind you of the upcoming changes to the Admin Console. These changes will improve your organization's control over the content stored in Creative Cloud and give you a deeper insight into storage capacity and usage . "
It also states: "[...] We are performing the update after business hours. During the update, the Admin Console may not be available for about 30 minutes. This should not affect users' access to Creative Cloud - them are only asked to log in again. "
Unfortunately, it didn't work that smoothly after all.
After the update during (! Friday morning) business hours, all users had to log in again. After that, the file synchronization no longer worked. Error message in the Creativ Cloud desktop app: "Error during file synchronization".
InDesign and Dimension also froze when they started and could only be ended using the task manager.
Solution:
Delete the Creativ Cloud Files folder (make a backup beforehand) so that it is automatically re-created.
The synchronization should then start again and the content will be downloaded again from the cloud to the folder. If necessary, restore deleted folders / files from "Deleted" in the Creativ Cloud Web or add them from the backup made previously.
Then the affected programs start again.
