Installer for InDesign 2022 MacOS (Team subscription)

We have a very specific system that currently only works in InDesign 2022. I am trying to get a backup computer setup with this, but I do not have the installer for InDesign 2022. I talked to Adobe and they were unable to give me the installer because they no longer support that version.

Does anyone still have the InDesign 2022 macOS installer for Intel-based Macs they could send me? Thanks!

We run a newspaper and if you’ve ever worked at a newspaper, you know you don’t get the latest hardware or software. Plugins we need usually are locked to a certain InDesign version. We have one machine that has 2022 on it, but to my knowledge there is no installer hidden anywhere to put on another machine. These are individual accounts since Adobe charges a lot more for teams.

I guess I will wait until our plugin provider updates to 2024 or higher. Thanks!

Just in case: it should be 2025 or higher. Or, even better, 2026 as the 2027 release is not too far ahead. Did you ask the plugin provider what takes them so long?

In any case, I understand how this constant upgrade situation multiplied by plugin compatibilities and support deprecations can make life quite complicated.

    Hi @CMGStan,

Thank you for reaching out, and we understand how disruptive it is when a working setup depends on a specific version and you're trying to get a backup machine ready without delay.

Before anything else, please do not accept an InDesign installer from any third party. Installers obtained outside official Adobe channels are not licensed for your account and carry real security risk. We'd strongly recommend against going that route, even as a stopgap.

On the version itself: under our Creative Cloud support policy, Creative Cloud for teams plans support the latest version and the immediately preceding version of each app. InDesign 2022 sits outside that window, which is why our support team was unable to provide it. The full policy is here for reference: https://helpx.adobe.com/support/programs/cc-support-policy.html

That said, it's worth checking what's still available for your account directly inside the Creative Cloud desktop app on the backup Mac:

    1. Open the Creative Cloud desktop app and sign in with the same Adobe ID used on the primary machine.
    2. Go to the Apps view, locate InDesign, and select the three dots (More actions) on the app tile.
    3. Choose Other versions and see which previous major versions are listed for your account.
    4. If a version that meets your needs appears, select Install next to it.

    Steps documented here: https://helpx.adobe.com/download-install/apps/download-install-apps/creative-cloud-apps/install-previous-versions-creative-cloud-apps.html

Please let us know what you see under Other versions, and we'll take it from there.

    Thanks,

    ^BS

Also, you mentioned ‘Team subscription.' How does the leader of your team address your requests for InDesign 2022? I believe the leader should provide you with all the required tools for your work.

The Team Subscription was an edit to the original post.

Ok I see. I think Adobe might have a somewhat different policy for teams regarding earlier versions (from what I could see from other posts).

Unless Adobe is supplying it, and I highly doubt they will with something this far out of date, you’re taking a pretty big chance. I’m curious, though. Why is something this outdated needed?
