Just heard about Device License moving to Shared Device License with tied user

Our students are felons mostly in prison although some are on probation, in half-way houses, or on parole.

None of them have email and use generic IDs specific to the site they are at for computer login.

It does not sound like the new licensing model will work for us then, so what are our options?

Hi,

You may want to consider a login that you have more control over.

This could be an Adobe ID account that is managed by the staff.

One other option would be a 'federated ID' for Single Sign-On.

I understand the options are:

Adobe-no way, they can't get to cloud or email and have a very restricted Internet site list.

Federated-all of our students use the same site generic account. Can multiple users authenticate at the same time with the same account? Is it user id or email address? They don't have email.

Enterprise-very few have Google accounts for Chromebooks, but no email.

These are 13 to 17 year old felons that don't have individual accounts because many of them would share or key in a wrong password because they don't want to go to school.

If federation server, then same questions as above and my security team will be interested.

Hi,

Can multiple users authenticate at the same time with the same account? - No. Each user has to have their own account.

Is it user id or email address? - The form that the login takes is an email address and this is how it has to be set up when being configured. This does vary by how the Identity Provider on your side is configured. In Microsoft ADFS it is possible to use User Principal Name (UPN) - this still has to take the form of an email but does not need to be an actual email account. - https://helpx-internal.corp.adobe.com/content/help/en/enterprise/kb/configure-microsoft-ad-fs-with-sso.html

This scenario would require an Admin Console - educational customers can get access to Admin Consoles and you should speak to your Adobe account manager or reseller if you don't already have that.
