Local AUSST4 & RUM 1.9.6.17 Download Issue OSX Server (Error 125)

Hello Community,

we still have problems with AUSST4 (and also RUM 1.9.6.17 on the Clients) running on our OSX Server 10.11.6 with the onboard Apache Web Server.

I had an active thread a few weeks ago and thought I solved the problem as I went into vacation - sad but true I solved not all problems -> AUSST 404 Errors - tried different ISPs  - as I returned last week from summer vacation I realized that AdobeRUM still couldnt update

The OSX server have full access to the internet - no proxies or other stuff which could interfere. Also the web server rights are set to 775 and the AUSST process runs as root - more rights should'nt be necessary ^^

AUSST quits quite well with error return code 0 on the terminal so all seems fine but in the logs there are always "Error 125" lines (for example Line 64,65) - I added the snipping of the AdobeUpdateServer.log - the error seems to occure for every CC2015.5 program but I only posted the beginning of the log and one error 125 example because the log is very long.

Received error from HDPIM type = 8 code = 125

What HDPIM for and could this module be not working as expected on our OSX Server?

I also checked the forum and found the hints for the MIME types for AUSST4 on Win2012R2 Server -> Installing AUSST 4.0 on Windows Server 2012 R2

As not mentioned in the AUSST howto knowledgebase for installing on OSX I'm not sure this fix is needed at all on the Apache OSX default config.

To be sure I activated (line was commented out) the MIME type on our apache config under /etc/apache2/mime.types and insert the dot as file extension

text/xml                                   .

Hope this was right. Sad but true this didnt fix the problem cause it should fix AdobeRUM download problem in the first place.

Any hints how to get behind the problem?

The next odd thing is the Error 125 behaivor of the lastest AdobeRUM on the clients if I try to update from the internal server.

The servers returns 404 errors on the different CC packages requested from the AdobeRum on the OSX client. After that I checked the path and file of the 404 GET on the web server - for example the ACR package - and find something strange.

At the moment I am not deep enough in the web server structure AUSST4 generates and the exact procedure the update mechanism works but some things are strange

  1. The filename the AdobeRum requests are Application.json but on the web server lies Application.json.aamdownload
  2. The file is clean with 0KB
  3. On some clients are still some CS6 programs and all updates for the CS6 products are working quite well with AdobeRUM

I assume point 1 & 2 are problems generated by the Error 125 of AUSST4 and so the file isnt saved correctly by AUSST in the first place !?

In that case I hopefully only have to fix the AUSST4 behavior 😕😕 to get a working AdobeRUM on our clients.

Has anyone any clue how to track and solve this AUSST4 problem on OSX Server?

    I don't have to offer much in the way of a fix and basically am saying "me too."

    But here is my contribution:

    I have 4 AUSST servers set up and working properly. I can't get a 5th to work and have the same errors as you. Trying to work out this problem, I have started from scratch so many times I have gotten to the point that I can spin up AUSST servers in my sleep.

    Thinking it might be a misconfiguration of the server hosting the web server I tried 2 things:

    1. Uninstall and reinstall as per precursorca's directions.

    2. Spun up a web server on a different device (a Mac laptop).

    Neither fixed the problem.

    I then took that Mac laptop and moved it into a DMZ, directly connecting to the internet. The problem went away!

    So I thought snap! It's something with the Kerio firewall (the same kind of Kerio firewall used in the other 4 networks). So I nuked the firewall and rebuilt it from scratch, first trying to synch AUSST with just a basic configuration of the firewall. I also swapped out NICs. The problem remains.

    All 5 networks use the same Comcast Business internet service. All 5 networks use the same kind of Kerio Control firewall. All 5 networks are macOS and Server.app based.

    After weeks of trying to resolve this including working with Adobe tech support and upgrading from 10.11.6 to 10.12.6 with no resolution (Adobe said it was a problem with my network and to try another network!) I finally determined to remove every last vestige of Adobe software and try again.

    I deleted everything from:

    /Applications/Adobe*

    /Applications/Utilities/Adobe*

    /Library/Appication Support/Adobe*

    ~/Library/Appication Support/Adobe*

    /Library/Preferences/Adobe*

    /Library/Preferences/com.adobe*

    ~/Library/Preferences/Adobe*

    ~/Library/Preferences/com.adobe*

    /Library/Logs/Adobe*

    ~/Library/Logs/Adobe*

    I then restarted the computer, reinstalled CCP and ran the AUSST server tool again and it finally worked downloading all 147+ GB with zero errors.

    Sebastien, I have the same issue using 10.12.5 and macOS Server 5.2.

    Older CS 6 updates work but newer ones do not in the same way you describe.

    I also uncommented the xml/text MIMI type in /Library/Server/Web/Config/apache2/Services/extra/mime.type but this did not help.

    I also have 0 kb JSON files that appear to be empty.

    But even a fresh AUSST download grabbing some 140+GB doesn't fill these files.
