Lost access to Creative Cloud files after my academic profile was deactivated – need help recovering them

Hi everyone,

I’m having a serious issue with my Creative Cloud files and I’m hoping someone here can help me understand if there is still a way to recover them.

When I was a student, I had an Adobe acount with two profiles:

  • A personal profile, which had basically nothing on it
  • An academic/school profile, which included my Creative Cloud subscription (provided for free by my school), all the Adobe apps, and all of my important files stored in Creative Cloud

I have now finished my studies, and my academic profile was recently deactivated/terminated by my school. As a result, I no longer have access to the Creative Cloud files that were associated with that profile.

The problem is that I genuinely need those files back. They contain important personal and school/project work that I had stored in Creative Cloud.

I recently gained access to another Adobe Creative Cloud subscription, but unfortunately, when I log in, I cannot see or access the files that were stored under my old academic profile.

I was under the impression that after an academic subscription ended, there would at least be a period during which I could still access or download my Creative Cloud files before they were permanently deleted. I was never able to download everything before the academic profile was deactivated.

Is there any way for Adobe Support to recover or restore access to those files, even temporarily, so that I can download them?

I still have access to the email address associated with the account, and I can provide any information needed to verify that I am the original owner of the files.

I would really appreciate any help or guidance, especially from anyone familiar with Creative Cloud storage, deactivated school accounts, or the process for recovering files from a terminated academic profile.

Thank you!

Having files only in cloud storage is not a good idea

This won't help the original person with lost files, but For anyone else reading this...
Do NOT have your files only in cloud storage
You should always have an extra copy of all files (or TWO full copies)
Computer crashes or account changes happen, so use an external drive for copies
A USB flash drive to keep in a safe place... there are many brands and sizes available
    Formatting a flash drive https://www.usbmemorydirect.com/blog/flash-drive-format-types/

    .
I use a Sata docking station and SEVERAL 'bare' drives for backup of my desktop computer
There are many external drive devices, this is the one I use

you need to contact your school admin and ask for that student account to be temporarily activated so you can transfer the student assets to your personal account.
