Need help using Remote Upate Manager

Question

We have several users of CC products but our users are not allowed to be admins on their machines. Their Adobe products are all far out of date. I need a system where I can push the updates remotely to them similar to something like PDQ Deploy. I've read up on Adobe Remote Update Manager but it doesn't seem very clear cut as to what I'm supposed to be doing. The instructions are not very helpful. I created a package for Acrobat and downloaded it but I have no idea what I'm supposed to do with it or how I run this remote update manager software. Apparently I need to install it on every client machine? How? Where is this installer? Is it in the package I created? If so, I need to sign into every machine and run this installer and then I can access them remotely to update them? How do I do that? What do I run on my machine to make this connection? There needs to be a better step by step guide that explains this process clearly.

For only Acrobat, I would suggest to use .msp file(patch) to update the application. You can download it using this link: https://www.adobe.com/devnet-docs/acrobatetk/tools/ReleaseNotesDC/index.html.

For all the creative cloud apps, you can create an update package from the admin console and using any deployment tool like PDQ/SCCM you can deploy the package which will update the apps. It is a separate process in compared to Remote Update Manager.

Hi,

The Fact, that you are writing from "far outdated products" -> one Problem on the RemoteUpdateManager (RUM) is, that you can not update major-versions.

RUM can only install minor updated, e.g. Photoshop 21.0 -> Photoshop 21.1.2, not major updates from one year's release to the next - for this you would need to create a package if you have disabled application management within Creative Cloud Desktop.
