need list of file types associated with Adobe software

Also more specifically, I have a question. In the entire portfolio of Adobe software

has anyone encountered a file type called simply an "Adobe file" ? Does it even exist?

No, not as a single file format. For instance Adobe Acrobat has multiple internal specific application file formats like PDF, FDF, XFDF, XDP, etc... and then there are the file formats that it supports using in one manner or another: Supported file formats in Acrobat and Reader

You will commonly hear this phrase used in ignorance or from overenthusiastic shortening of a name. For example, people who work with PDFs with Adobe Acrobat may call a PDF an "Adobe file". People who work with Photoshop may call their Photoshop PSD files an "Adobe file" and so it continues right across the product line. In much the same way people confuse the software and talk about "editing with Adobe" for example, though "Adobe" is not the name of any single piece of software. Others call "Microsoft Word" just "Microsoft" and so on. This mostly happens with people who don't use multiple products from the same maker.

Here in the forums we have to deal with many questions each day with this kind of error.
