Question

Need silent/background method to enable CCApps Automatic Updates (perhaps ServiceConfig.xml)

Hi there,

We've been struggling with this for quite a while now. We would like to ENABLE automatic updates on user's PCs for all apps within creative cloud  (Setting = File > Preferences > Apps tab > Auto-update)

(Just to note, not asking to update creative cloud desktop itself, this is already configured just fine, it's the apps within CC desktop).

There has to be a way to enable this with the ServiceConfig.xml..

I've tried:

  • Repackaging Creative Cloud with Disable Automatic Updates switched off and reinstalling it on a PC
  • Preserving the prefs file within %AppData%\Local\Adobe\OOBE\ while it's configured as enabled and copying it back
  • Using the <SelfUpdate> and <SelfServiceInstalls> parameters within ServiceConfig.xml (perhaps there is a different parameter that handles that exact toggle option)

Or perhaps someone knows of a way to configure this using %AppData%\Local\Adobe\AAMUpdater\1.0\AdobeUpdatePrefs.dat?

According to many forums, most orgs have the issue of wanting to turn it off, but we can't seem to turn it on no matter what we try.

Hello,

you can define self-serve polcies within the product configuration setting on your Admin Console so that users have these settings set on their behalf as defined by your policy:

https://helpx.adobe.com/enterprise/using/manage-self-service-policies.html

Select a particular product profile and go to the "permissions" page, you can then set a self-serve policy to control whether auto-update is enabled, whether applications will be available 30 days after release, and whether older applications are available for installation.

I hope this helps,

Dom
