OCR function within a Xen Desktop Environment

When using OCR function within a Xen Desktop environment.

The OCR function works ok when performing this on a locally saved pdf file but refuses to work on a network location based pdf file.

this is a random on / off occurance so sometimes works and sometimes does not work.

does anyone know if there is a reason to this or a fix for this?
