Question

Personal license on School computer

Hi! I go to school at a 3D school in Denmark and since they don't use Photoshop I'd like to buy a license and use it for myself. Problem is, the school wont let me download photoshop and use MY OWN license on their servers and computers in risk of Adobe suing the school.

Is there any information online that I can read in on this? Is this really true? And maybe even more important - is there a way I can bypass this, and use the software I pay for at school?

Sincerely,

Antimo

Well, for most software, they would be absolutely right. Well, you could be sued too. Most software is licensed to a person, so if you leave it on a school computer, and someone else uses it, they are breaching the license, and so are you. Photoshop CC is a bit different: it's a subscription. If you remembered to SIGN OUT, then nobody else can use it.

But still, that's the school's rules. Most schools would have an absolute rule forbidding anyone from installing software on a school computer, for many good reasons, and the computers are generally locked to stop it happening.

It would be as well to respect the school's rules. There is no way to use Photoshop legally without installing it. They may also want you to learn what everyone else is learning rather than bringing your own tools. (But that's another story).

I don't know Denmark so I don't know what you mean by a 3D school. If you mean you are studying 3D, you should note that Adobe took all the 3D stuff out of Photoshop already.

Right, but people wouldn't have access to the school computer except me - so I feel like it's more of an excuse rather than an actual security issue/license issue. Lets say that I'm the only person who is able to use the license, and except for the fact that it's on the schools server. there shouldn't be a legal issue with using PSD from Adobe's perspective right?

Lets say that I'm the only person who is able to use the license, and except for the fact that it's on the schools server, it would be the same as my personal computer - there shouldn't be a legal issue with using PSD from Adobe's perspective right?*
