Re: New Lightroom CC install Errors
Same issue here (various versions of Windows). The way my employer has our workstations set up we log into the domain and our personal folders (desktop, documents, etc) are mapped to a network drive for redundancy among other things. This is not something I can easily edit--temporarily or otherwise--under current policy as it would break other things.
I've tried uninstalling Lightroom (bad idea since now I can't seem to reinstall it) as well as trying to install older versions with no luck. It's always the same issue:

This is under an admin account (I am admin on this machine) and I've manually run the Adobe CC updater app as administrator via right-click context menu. From what I am picking up here, Lightroom is now unavailable to me at work because...it can't create a shortcut that I would have deleted immediately anyway (who uses them anymore?? that's what the taskbar and launcher are for).
Are there any other solutions that don't require me to remap my drives, edit registry settings, or otherwise anger my boss in IT? It would be one thing if this were my personal workstation where I could edit whatever settings it takes to get things working. But with a computer owned by our IT department I need to follow policy. And, no, getting a different computer that's not network mapped/joined to a domain is not an option, but using other software may have to be.
