Re: Unable to Uninstall CS4 because Uninstall link is not functional

I recently bought a CC license after my old one expired. I have remnants of a CS4 installation on my Mac that is causing the Cloud Cleaner Tool to crash. There is no such thing as a current uninstall (Ventura) program for CS4. This is preventing my access to all CC Apps, even though my previous license worked. How do I get access to the products that I purchased?

What do you mean preventing access? CS4 should not cause any problems with the current CC versions.

This is just my assumption, because I carefully followed the Adobe instructions for problems encountered when installing CC. Once I do everything preceding the Clean Up tool step, I am able to use the clean up tool to remove all Adobe files except CS4. When I try to remove whatever there is of CS4 the clean up tool hangs. If I try reinstall Creative Cloud I am told I do not have access to my apps without administrator permission. If I ask my administrator he sends me to these help/support pages.

You generally need to have an administrator password on both platforms to install software. Are you an admin? If not, your system admin will need to help you.

do a clean cc install by carefully following each applicable step:

uninstall every cc app including preferences per https://helpx.adobe.com/creative-cloud/help/uninstall-remove-app.html

then uninstall the cc desktop app, again using the correct uninstaller per https://helpx.adobe.com/creative-cloud/help/uninstall-creative-cloud-desktop-app.html#sa_src=web-messaging

clean your computer of cc files per http://www.adobe.com/support/contact/cscleanertool.html

restart your computer (don't skip this)

    reinstall the cc desktop app*

*use the "alternative download links" at the bottom of the page at https://helpx.adobe.com/download-install/kb/creative-cloud-desktop-app-download.html

use the desktop app to install your cc programs/trials

This did not help. It is difficult to remove Adobe processes with the Activity Monitor since they come and go regularly, specifically an Adobe crash process, which then alternates with some of the processes listed here: https://helpx.adobe.com/creative-cloud/kb/cc-cleaner-tool-installation-problems.html.  But if I restart, the Activity Monitor is clean but I still cannot use the Clean Up tool to remove CS4, the Cleaner hangs interminably.

    But thanks for the advice!
