Remove Adobe CC, install newest version and I get the version I just removed installed?

I am trying to upgrade a system from Adobe CC 5.5.0.617 to version 5.6.0.788.2 and having a really odd problem.   remove version 5.5.0.617 of Adobe CC from the system.  Then I install version 5.6.788.2. I can see in the logs that it removes the old one and I even checked the directory in between.  When the new version is installed it reports as version 5.5.0.617.  The executables also show version 5.5 so it is that version.

I'm using an automated deployment system and other systems I've updated went just fine.  So it's not making any sense why the install puts back on the old version.

Anyone have any thoughts on this?
