Rendition API License query

Hi Team,

I’m looking for clarification regarding the Adobe InDesign Server / Rendition API licensing and pricing model.

Could someone please confirm:

  1. How is the Rendition API licensed and priced?

  2. Is the cost based on the number of rendition requests, processing volume, API usage, server instance, or a fixed license?

  3. Are there any limits on the number of renditions that can be generated?

  4. Is there any developer, trial, or evaluation option available for testing the Rendition API before purchasing a production license?

  5. If the Rendition API requires an InDesign Server license, could you please clarify how the licensing works between the two?

  6. If there is a specific Adobe team that handles Rendition API licensing and commercial queries, please share the appropriate contact or process.

I have already submitted an enquiry through the Adobe form but have not yet received a response, so I wanted to check with the community as well.

Thank you.

    Hi @Usha_C,

    Thanks for reaching out.

InDesign Server is self-hosted, enterprise-only, licensed via FRL Online or FRL Offline, assigned at the org level, deployed through Admin Console packages. Named User Licensing isn't supported.

The InDesign API is a cloud service under Firefly Services. Adobe's own documentation states access goes through the Adobe Developer Console, where you create a project with Firefly API OAuth Server-to-Server credentials: https://adobe.ly/4hOSGo2. Billing is usage-based.

Neither product has a published flat price list. Adobe's own documentation states pricing is volume and usage-based, and that you need to contact Adobe directly for a quote: https://adobe.ly/4rJtJi5. Any specific dollar figures circulating for InDesign Server outside Adobe's own site aren't confirmed by Adobe and shouldn't be relied on.

For pricing, licensing terms, or trial access, the right channels are:

    Adobe Enterprise Support, https://adobe.ly/4rP7h7s

    Adobe sales intake, https://adobe.ly/4j5AJUh

    Thanks,
    Tariq
