Simple File Server Replacement in 2023

TL;DR: I know with Enterprise I will be able to pool/reallocate storage across users. However, I'm unclear if this storage can behave more like a central file repository for consistent access and future reference, or if it has to be a spiderweb of individuals sharing folders and files with one another.

----------------

We have a dozen Creative Cloud Suite users and dozens of Acrobat Pro licenses, so we have quite a few TB of Creative Cloud storage. We are considering upgrading to Enterprise to gain SSO and more control over our storage so we can move away from our legacy on-site file server and start working more efficiently in Creative Cloud. (Ever more important as we have people working remotely.)

I've researched across the Adobe Community and Help docs, and I can't find a satisfactory answer: can I use Creative Cloud storage to replace our old-school server?

Organization and bloat may be challenges on our existing file server. Still, at least I have confidence that anyone with access to it can hunt down and access, for example, the three versions of an INDD file of an invitation to an event from three years ago. In contrast, Creative Cloud storage seems set up for designers to store files they are working on and share them with colleagues (think OneDrive) rather than for a team to pool all their files in a comprehensive folder structure (think SharePoint).

If we are planning an event, we just navigate to Events/2023 on our existing server, create a subfolder, and all start working on it. In Creative Cloud storage, from what I can tell, one person would create a folder for the upcoming event in their own storage space and share it with others. It is unclear to me whether that user could instead create that folder in a more central folder (ie "Events/2023") for common access and future reference.

If I'm right, is the only way to achieve what I'm after to allocate most of the storage to myself or some other central role, create a folder for the whole department, then share that folder with everyone to use, with some top-level folders (like "Events") in place? I hate tying the department's assets to a single user, of course.

Some answers I found spoke of libraries, but these don't seem like places you'd want to store working files like INDD, AI, PSD and the like.

Can someone please help me understand the feasibility of Creative Cloud for what I'm after?

Correct answer SabeyTeddy

I think I found my answer: Creative Cloud Spaces. Announced two years ago as a limited private beta, and it apparently still is. Disappointing to say the least.

@SabeyTeddy TBH you should be looking at a DAM system to handle your files across all your users, not Creative Cloud storage - Spaces or otherwise.

A good DAM system can manage versions, connect to Creative Cloud apps and work seamlessly with Mac and Windows users.

How's MediaValet? We use that for our final assets for distribution. We had intended to use it for work in progress, but realized we had a ton of Adobe space and thought that would provide a superior, native experience. That's far from the truth, relatively shocking, and unfortunate.

Have you used Spaces? Why wouldn't it be a good solution?

Creative cloud Collaboration allows you to share groups of assets from your Creative Cloud account with other Creative Cloud users and allows them to work cooperatively with those shared assets. Regarding your query, The individual users folder in the Admin console gives you insights about the current usage of the creative cloud storage for your end users. Each user can make a user of cloud storage by uploading the files to the cloud just like any other platform. However, the network would play a major role in the optimum performance of cloud storage. The intent of the such process is to allow the end users to upload the data on the cloud and safeguard their data and not to work directly from the cloud drive as it may result in creating conflicted copies if the same file is opened by any other user in the collaborative environment as we do not support the Multi-user access on a file. You may create templates and add them to a CC library which would be accessible to each end user through the Libraries panel once shared. Please review the below article to understand more about it in detail: https://helpx.adobe.com/creative-cloud/help/collaboration-faq.html#:~:text=You%20can%20collaborate%20with%20other,necessary%20access%20rights%20and%20permissions

I would suggest you talk to Adobe sales team and discuss what's on offer for your use case and probably get a demo of some sort. You can get the contact details at the following link
