Question

What is the deal with the "application manager"

I just got an update for the "Adobe application manager".

(I am using Adobe Dreamweaver so I thought maybe there is Patch or so..)

After the update I got a new (unwanted) Icon on my desktop, the program asked me for my Adobe log-in.

I gave it.

After that I see a long list of Adobe programs including the latest version of Dreamweaver (not my version) with the possibility to install these programs.

My questions:

What is this "application manager", why did I need to install it, can I remove it?

(Maybe I am wrong, but it looks as if I just installed an Adobe Shop in my computer, bloatware that pollutes my computer using valued space on my SSD)

    Hi,

Can you please let me know if you deployed your package using AAMEE? if yes, which build of AAMEE are you using to deploy your package?

Also from where did you download the update "Adobe Application Manager"?

it would be help in reproducing the scenario at our end, if you can share detailed steps.

    thanks,

    To answer your question -

What is this "application manager", why did I need to install it, can I remove it?

Adobe application manager (aka AAM) is core application for all Adobe Creative Suite Products and is required for download, deployment, provisioning and updater functionality. Launching AAM from shortcut launches CCM workflow which is workflow for retail users, so if you are using AAMEE to deploy products and updates, you dont need to use CCM workflow. Then you can delete this icon from desktop and it will not impact other features.

Just one more query - how did you apply AAM update - by packaging it with AAMEE or directly via launching updater from Help->update menu of dreamweaver?

    thanks,

Hi there Thanks for the reply,

let me know if you deployed your package using AAMEE

Not sure what you mean with "AAMEE" and CCM - workflow..

    This is what I did:

Today I saw a red icon next to my clock, from Adobe (I am using win7 64 bit). Like one sees when there is a Windows Update..

When I hovered over it said "Update for Adobe Application Manager".

For the record, I didn't download anything new from adobe the last few months. For some reason I thought it was fix/patch/update for my Dreamweaver (5.5) or so.

Anyway, I clicked the Icon and installed what turned out to be the "Adobe Application Manager". Not an update for anything just something new showing a list of programs (versions) I didn't have in my computer with an option to install them...

from where did you download the update "Adobe Application Manager"?

I did not download the update, it presented itself to me.

how did you apply AAM update

I initiate the update from the Adobe-update-icon next to my clock, not using Dreamweaver.

English is not my native tongue, I hope none the less that my words are understandable..
