Question

Why are the Acrobat versions in Admin Console so far behind realtime updates?

When a new version of Acrobat is released, I can get the update from the offical Adobe Acrobat Enterprise Release Notes page… But I cannot get the full download for the new version from Admin Console for weeks.  New versions come out and I have to get them elsewhere, not from Admin Console, and by the time I’m able to get the version I was looking for, it’s out of date already.  I do not have this issue with any other applications, only Acrobat.  Also, Acrobat is the only application that does not show if it is “up to date” or “Not up to date” in Admin Console. All other applications work this way, but no matter how many versions behind Acrobat is, it always shows Up to date.

    Hi @Eric29392351e9yo,

Thank you for laying this out clearly and flagging that it is only Acrobat-related, which points to something structural.

On the lag, Acrobat works differently from other Creative Cloud apps at the infrastructure level. If you sync through an internal update server, Acrobat is the one app where only the current version syncs, for security reasons, not the current plus the previous major version that other apps get. Acrobat's update mechanism, Remote Update Manager, also combines download and installation into a single step rather than the two-phase model used by other apps. Neither is a misconfiguration on your end.

On the status badge never changing, the behavior you are describing, Acrobat showing up to date even when it is not the newest version, is a known issue on our side, specific to Acrobat, not something affecting other apps the same way. It is actively tracked and has not been dismissed as user error.

To help us weigh this correctly as it moves forward, could you send us, by private message rather than here, how many licenses and how many users in your organization are affected by this? That detail helps us reflect the actual scale of impact.

Let us know if you would also like help confirming your actual deployed version in the meantime.

    Thanks,
    Tariq
