Flash 9 Installed but not detected

I have installed flash player 9 on my computer. according to adobe's website it's installed however any time i go to a website requiring flash it says that i need to download flash player 9. i have tried to uninstall and reinstall several times yet the same symptoms occur. the weird thing is that there are two user accounts on my computer. one of them has no problem with flash and the other account does. i've tried setting up a new user account to see if flash would work on another account and it will not. all of the user accounts have administrator rights. i am really confused at this point and don't know what else to try. i am also running ie7 and this problem didn't start until i downloaded ie7. it seems that there are a lot of people out there having trouble with flash 9 and ie7. i have tried to email adobe about the issue but i have not heard back from them. does anyone have any suggestions. thanks for your help in advance!

I've got an ongoing problem. I can't view certain videos on certain sites. www.nfl.com is one of them. It tells me I need to download Flash 9.0, which I have. Funny thing is, it worked last month. I have tried many fixes (almost all) on this thread with no luck so far. I have XP Home Ed and IE 6.
I've tried it with shockwave and without, the system 32 thing listed above and many of the other fixes.

I also can't get the uninstall link to work for some odd reason. The uninstall.exe file won't open. When I click on it, it goes to one of those "this page cannot be displayed" pages.

Super frustrated. Any suggestions? If you need any more details, let me know.

I tried for two months to get Flash working although there was little touble installing it.. Sites could not find it. I finally explored all of the add-ons for IE7 and Flash was not among them. Shockwave was listed but I had disabled it. I re-enambled it and much to my surprise, Flash Player worked. Somehow, Flash seems to use shockwave as a door to IE7. I had tried everything ever suggested. I probably installed it over fifty times with and without virus checkers and with and without firewalls. I downloaded having used msconfig to prevent statup files from loading. A dad story, but all is well if it ends well. I'll keep my fingers crossed just in case

I had same issue using IE7 on XP.
This worked for me today... download the Flash Player installer and save to your desktop. Close all programs incl IE7. Run the uninstaller, http://kb.adobe.com/selfservice/viewContent.do?externalId=tn_14157&sliceId=1, restart PC and re-install Flash Player. Good luck

This worked for me. I read all your guys' stuff. I went to windows, sys 32 and then to the macromedia folder. I deleted it after uninstalling in through the program uninstaller. So A. Uninstall B. Find the folder where the file is at

    windows - sys 32 - macromedia

I also exited the msn messanger - I erased completely this folder, then I went back to Adobe - but wait - MESSANGER NEEDS FLASH FOR EMOTIONS- So when msn loaded up and logged in, it took me to a microsoft page to load in flash again. IT THEN SHOWS AN EMOTION AND I WAS SET. I went to www.ebaumsworld.com becuase that site's videos are all in flash.

This worked, so I hope it works for you. I bought a sony machine that had all kinds of Adobe trial garbage on it, when I got rid of alot of it, is when I think it started to mess with flash becuase I was getting rid of Adobe products. All the best,

    Error 1904 Module
C:\WINNT\System32\Macromed\Flash\Flash9b.ocx failed to register. HRESULT -2147220473.
    Contact your support personnel.

I can verify that the registry problems explains by TechWtr are likely the cause. I downloaded the uninstaller and reinstalled, and it works fine in IE7 only when logged in under the admin account that installed it, just as TechWtr said. You'd think by now big companies like Adobe would have a grasp on microsoft user accounts and get with the program, but apparently we are all still expected to run everything under one insecure admin account aka the days of windows 95. i'll wait for the patch instead of mucking up my registry.

Looks like one of my kids tried to install IE7 and now I too have problem. Solution has been found at the following site (apprently a wide spread problem):

    http://www.angryharry.com/esproblemwithflash.htm

Note: Best to download the uninstaller and ensure no programs are loaded including any browser and run uninstall. Reboot machine and go back to Adobe site and re-install Flash Player 9. Good luck.
