Flash Player 11 time out at 12 seconds - German notifications

I receive time out notifications when I try to install Adobe Flash Player 11 for IE & SRWare Iron. On the website where I can check my current Flash Player version, I get prompted to activate the plug-in. See the following picture:

However, when I confirm the activation, I get the following error message in German. (I run Windows XP Professional 32-bit SP3.)

It basically states that I cannot activate the plug-in because of an error. Any attempts to install Flash Player from scratch fail because of the time out as reported by other users in this forum.

Where can I find direct downloads of Flash Player 11 for Windows or Macintosh?

Down the appropriate installers and uninstallers and exit browser.

Uninstall all Flash Players.

Reboot.

Delete the Windows/System32/Macromed/Flash folder.

Install the appropriate Flash Players.
