Flash9b.ocx crash once again

Hi, all

I'd really like to see an official message from Adobe concerning the issue with Flash9b.ocx crashing in IE. Surely they must have received a lot of messages from disgruntled users.

I work for an online newspaper and we have several hundred thousand page impressions every day. And for lots of users our front page causes the Flash player to crash. It's practically impossible to isolate which banner ad(s) that will lead to a crash.

My theory is that there are certain ActionScript commands that are handled in a different manner in the new player, while swfs that contain only animation will work.

Make sure all your drivers for your sound and video cards are up to date, and in some cases even your printer and web cam drivers.

Manufactures put out new drivers to fix bugs, improve performance, and increase compatibility with other hardware and software.

Often the combination of the web browser and the Flash Player can trigger a fairly complex code path. Anything out of sync can cause a cascade of problems that eventually crash the player or browser.

If you have made sure everything is updated and your hardware is working ok, you should contact technical support for further assistance.

We've been seeing a lot of crashes with IE 6 and 9.0.28 no mention of missing Flash.ocx though.

Hoping we can track down what SWF is the problem but it's a big problem for our site.

If you have Windows98(SE) there is only "system" instead of "system32" in cashew76's url. Or try to find Flash9b.ocx by means of the Windows search function.

    1. Drag and drop Flash9b.ocx into any directory, C:\ eg., pressing the Ctrl key on the keyboard simultanously (the file shall not be moved but copied).
    2. Rename the new copy of Flash9b.ocx to Flash.ocx there.
    3. Drag and drop Flash.ocx back into the directory, where the original Flash9b.ocx occures.

I tried every single thing mentioned here and NOTHING worked. It first happened randomly two days ago when it kept freezing during YouTube videos and other videos using flash. I have to restart my computer every time because firefox wont open up again after crashing. I'm getting sick of this and I have no where to turn!!!
