Question

Compiling UE4 plugin for PS4, Xbox and Switch

We are licensed developers and cannot build the UE4 plugin runtime for consoles. We tried e-mailed support and they directed us to this forum. Where can we confirm our developer status to obtain the console libraries?

Hello, the same question here. Need Substance C++ files to compile the plugin for PS4. I tried to use the confirm developer status function but no reply.

Hi @defaultdp6elzz6xb6s , we previously supported a runtime component in the UE plugin, which we extended to support the original Xbox One and PS4 consoles. However, as these consoles have become outdated with the release of the PS5 and Xbox Series consoles, our plugin has also become outdated.

The usage of this runtime component on these platforms is very low, and the complexity of adding support and maintaining it for these game consoles is very high. Therefore, we are no longer supporting these platforms.

One workaround would be to remove the Substance objects and switch to using the textures as static UE materials, though this would mean a loss of runtime changes. We sincerely apologize for the discontinued support for ps4. Desktop and mobile should function as expected.
