We migrated the project to use the latest unreal engine 4.72 version.
Unfortunately the issue remains:

  • Substance rendering engine in ue4 runtime will stubbornly revert the normal to BC5 Format.
  • Changing the "Lossy compression amount" or "Compresion quality" has no effect on the rendered normal output.

This happens when calling substance sync or async rendering methods at runtime.
