3-digit autonumbering with leading zeros?

There's also the question of the output target.
If it's page-oriented format, such as PDF, does it recognize LZ page numbers?

FrameMaker doesn't have a built-in way of doing this, although it has been requested over the years. You could have a set of paragraph formats where the building blocks have leading zeros; for example,

numbered-single: 00<n+> (001, 002, etc)

numbered-double: 0<n+> (032, 033, etc)

numbered: <n+> (100, 101)

This would be a semi-automatic solution so you would have to check to make sure paragraphs are tagged correctly, especially as you add or subtract them.

Another possibility is a scripting solution that would automatically apply the correct formats, based on the actual numbers. If you are interested in exploring this, please contact me offlist. Thank you.
