    Hi,

Do you always recreate the autonumbering in your TOC file?

You could also use the <$paranum> building block on the reference pages instead of adding autonumbering to each of the TOC paragraph formats.

The chapnum variable in the TOC will always show the value of the TOC file and not the value of the file of the paragraph.

    Best regards, Winfried

Your TOC paragraph formats shouldn't be autonumbered. The building blocks will pick up the numbering from each paragraph in the document/book. Your reference page paragraphs should be something like this:

    <$paranum> <$paratext>\t<$pagenum>

That worked. Thanks But, Went to do the same in another document and the <$paranum> does not display at all in the toc. I even imported the TOC reference page that works to the new document.  Checked the numbering properties and they are good.
