Fresco 5.7.0 crashing on Windows

Hi,

I installed Fresco on my new PC (Windows 11, NVIDIA RTX 5080 GPU with the latest Studio driver). The hardware is state-of-the-art.

I’m running Fresco 5.7.0. When I launch Fresco and try to create a canvas, Fresco crashes without warning. Uninstalling it sometimes fails, but occasionally works. The same goes for reinstalling it.

I have no idea what’s going on.

Thanks for any info

Same for me, used your workarounds and nothing works.  This should not be happening.  We should not have to go through so much to get an Adobe program to work.  You are making it feel like it is our fault.  Other Adobe Programs work and have for years and years.    No matter, buying and reinstalling on new computers with all different configurations.  Fresco simply will not run.  I have this for you and all my drivers etc are updated.    Samsung Book 5 Pro 360 Business Edition x2 of these, using a Wacom Intuos Pro 20215 tablet with Pro Pen 3 and Art Pen 2.  Windows 11 Pro.

I realize that this is a free program from Adobe; therefore, it is not getting the same attention as the subscription based programs.  But honestly, I did not realize it was a free program, so I understand the lack of attention.  But it is enough to  deter interest in Adobe.    Move on to other programs.   I have been using Adobe  as long as I can remember.   When you owned it, and upgraded it consistently.    Subscription keeps going up.  It was nice to have a freebie added to all the programs I am paying for.   And one that I am interested in enough to try.   But I cannot use it as it crashes upon load (if it actually loads).   I got a run around with support and a push off to a community to explain the issue.   They could not make a ticket for this programs failure.    Maybe someday it will work.   But with everything I have up to date and working.  This is a mystery.  It looks like it has been known for some time.  Why not pull it instead of putting users through so much anguish until it works as all other Adobe Products?

I feel the same way. As I said, in my opinion, it's because of the antivirus program—Norton.

    Hello everyone,

We’re aware of a recent surge in crashes for Fresco 5.7.0 on Windows. The team has identified the issue and has suggested a workaround:

    • Navigate to this folder location: C:\Users\<your-username>\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\
    • Delete this folder: typequest
    • Relaunch Fresco

Kindly try these steps and let us know how it goes.

    Solution to the Fresco problem:
If you're using Norton Internet Security, you need to
block the Adobe Fresco Dev setting in the Program Control panel. Then Adobe Fresco will work perfectly.

    Hello @Laura Jean

I understand how frustrating it can be to experience crashes. Would you mind updating the OS (https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/update-windows-3c5ae7fc-9fb6-9af1-1984-b5e0412c556a) to the latest version and checking whether it helps? Also, try the following steps and share your observations:

    1. Go to Creative Cloud Desktop Application

    2. Press Ctrl+Alt+R

    3. It will show a dialog to Relaunch

    4. Click Continue and wait for 2-3 minutes

    5. Launch Fresco

Also, kindly reinstall the GPU drivers (Intel / NVIDIA / AMD), set the Graphics Preference to High-Performance for Fresco (https://www.amd.com/en/support/kb/faq/gpu-110), and check if it helps.

Additionally, check if all of your work is synced online (https://assets.adobe.com/cloud-documents). If yes, please try resetting Fresco (https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/repair-apps-and-programs-in-windows-e90eefe4-d0a2-7c1b-d...) and share your observations.

Looking forward to hearing from you.

The exact same thing is happening to me. I have the exact same laptop too. I've tried everything. Every update, restart, troubleshoot, changed to 5.5. Everything! I also bought the 2 in 1 for the same reason so this is really frustrating.

The app will crash after about 10 seconds of launching it. I can try and draw or just literally launch it but the same thing happens.

I would not hesitate to believe that most people have tried all of these steps. I know I have, and none of them are working. People pay for a reliable product. I personally teach high school, and I have a personal adobe account that I pay for, as well as a work account. My students all have accounts that the district pays for. I teach a digital class and the first unit is Fresco. None of the 18 student units (Windows Surface Pros) are able to work right now because of whatever is causing this issue. Please. Stop giving advice that doesn’t work and fix your product. It is an incredibly disappointing fact that Adobe is not as reliable as it once was. Schools that pay for 1500 licenses for students to have an experience will withdraw and not pay for services and apps that do not work.
