Auto-resize of the Illustrator Screen

This is a silly little issue, but I toggle between Cmd+F and normal mode to keep reviewing my projects without distractions. I recently upgraded to a new laptop and ever since, whenever I change to full-screen mode and back again, the Illustrator window resizes and extends beyond my dock (Bottom part of my laptop screen). I have to keep on manually resizing the window from the top of the screen and it becomes a nuisance after a point since I can't access the lowest sublayers without resizing when I extend my Layers panel. Is this a preferences thing?
