Hi, I experience this problem few months. I have laptop MSI Prestige 15, Intel core i7, 16GB RAM, GeForce GTX 1650 4GB. I open Illustrator, start working and then after few minutes it freezes for 5-15mins, so I can't do anything. It does repeatedly, especially when working on complex files with lot of brushes, effects etc. I would be grateful for help what is wrong.

thanks.

Eva

Hello @evaahmed,

Sorry to hear about this experience. I hope the suggestions shared by Mike helped resolve the problem. If not, kindly try reinstalling the GPU drivers (https://help.bethesda.net/#en/answer/57037) and trying the suggestions shared in this help article (https://helpx.adobe.com/illustrator/kb/optimize-illustrator-performance.html), and checking if it helps?

Also, set Illustrator to use the High-Performance dedicated GPU (https://www.amd.com/en/support/kb/faq/gpu-110) and share your observations.

If the issue persists, kindly share some more information, like the exact version of the OS/Illustrator installed on your device, whether Illustrator behaves this way with other files or a particular tool/feature/workflow, if you use any Graphics tablet (Wacom/Huion).
Also, share a screen recording of the problem (https://community.adobe.com/t5/illustrator-discussions/screen-record-an-issue-on-windows-amp-macos-for-sharing/td-p/12967727) so that we can investigate this further.

Looking forward to your response.

Thanks,

Anubhav

Thanks for advice I got. I fam just checking out your suggested options. I don't know if it is helpful but quite similar problem I have with Photoshop. It freezes when I try to isolate hair and press "select and mask". After that I must force shut down laptop.

16gb ram should be good, try these:

Clear Cache Windows

Clearing caches on Windows

OOBE RESET WIN

Quit the Creative Cloud desktop app  (100% you must do this)

C:\Users\<user folder>\AppData\Local\Adobe\OOBE

The AppData folder is hidden in Windows by default. See Show hidden files, folders, filename extensions | Windows for instructions to access it.

Delete all the files within the OOBE folder, but do not delete the folder itself.

Restart the computer and launch the Creative Cloud desktop app again.

Try not running a web browser. If works fine then you probably need to clear your web browser cache, as trojan horses data miners can get in there.
