Question

Illustrator crashed and now won't open my file.

I was using Illustrator last night finishing a project and it suddenly crashed. When I went to reopening the file it now says

"Document contains incompatible object(s)

This cloud document contains objects that are not compatible with the current Illustrator version.

To open this document, use the version with which the document has been created"

I updated my illustrator 8 days ago and every other file on my computer is working fine.

Hi @Madeline232845528dxh,

I can understand how frustrating it must be to encounter this issue, especially after putting effort into your project. To investigate this issue and recover the file, we will need the following information:

  • In which version of Ai did you create the file initially, and what is the current version of Ai in which you last opened this file?
  • Are you able to download or open the previous file from version history (https://adobe.ly/4iyy1E8)?
  • Collect logs with the help of the Log Collector tool and upload it on Google Drive/Dropbox/WeTransfer or any similar website that you prefer and share the download link here.

We’ll do our best to help you recover your project. Looking forward to your response!

Best,

Anshul Saini
