Illustrator version 26.4.1 crashing constantly

In the last few days my illustrator has had problems when trying to save a file or using any tool that opens a pop up window, such as using the color selection tool or exporting the file to PDF.

When trying to change the color, the pop up window appears for a few seconds and I can't select anything and when I try to force the application to close it crashes

Sorry to hear about this experience. I hope the suggestions shared by Monika helped resolve the problem. If not, kindly try running Illustrator under the root user account (macOS) or a different administrator account (Windows) and share your observations.
