Illustrator wont allow me to drage in PNG. images (No error message either)

Running 25.4.8, same version ive had since installing and never updated this or my MAC os.

I try to drag PNG files into the artboard which usually will just apply itself the layer im working in.

Tested JPEG and it still works but when I drag PNG images it just doesnt do anything, no message nothing.

Please help, I have deadlines to meet!

There seems to be a problem with PNG files and 25.4.8

If you have 25.4.8 try to go back to the previous version 25.4.7

In the CC app, choose Apps, click the 3 dots to the right of Illustrator.

select the Other versions option.
