Image not saving at the correct size when exporting to JPEG

when creating patterns, I usually crop my image using a clipping mask and then save the cropped image as a JPEG. For some reason, on my current pattern, which is no different to my others, no matter how many times I try to recreate it Or start from scratch, the exported JPEG comes out at 0.003 inches bigger than the ai file size. I’ve tried ensuring that it’s the correct size in pixels and it is before I crop it.  Then when I crop it, the pixels are out, but the inches tally is correct. Either way, when I export it to JPEG or PNG, this sizing issue happens. It’s causing me a real headache and I can’t deliver the work to my clients.

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated!

The problem is because of the Align to pixel grid technique so as Monika Gause said there will be difference when you crop in pixels and check in Inches.
In Print, no problem in 0.01 mm or 0.003 in

When exporting to PNG or JPG there will always need to be whole pixels. There cannot be 0,657 pixels in a file, which might cause the discrepancy.

This discrepancy doesn’t arrive until after I’ve cropped the image.  Before I crop, the image is 360x360 pixels and after cropping, its 360.002x360.01 pixels. This then subsequently impacts the size of the JPEG and I end up with white lines when expanding my pattern. This happens occasionally when I’m creating patterns, but I can’t work out what causes it and how to fix it when it does arise.

Is everything aligned to tge pixel grid? Your artboard as well as your cropping box?
